From 12 January 2026, new guidance issued by the President of the Family Division has been brought into effect for non-molestation orders (NMO). This replaces the last guidance produced in 2023.

There is an enormous number of things to sort when separating – children, pets, moving out, bills, conveyancing, telling friends/family, telling work – the list goes on. Something that may be overlooked is digitally disconnecting. But what does this mean? 

Good Divorce Week is a national campaign led by Resolution, an organisation of family justice professionals who believe that even when a relationship ends, it’s possible to separate in a way that is respectful, fair, and focused on the future. 

In England and Wales, cohabiting relationships are the fastest-growing family type. Yet, the legal framework surrounding these partnerships remains outdated and often inadequate, leaving many people vulnerable.

Back in October I attended an excellent seminar hosted by the family justice board for Milton Keynes. It was incredibly thought provoking and made me realise that where I had thought I had a good amount of knowledge about neurodiversity, there is such a huge amount that I do not know (and still don’t!).
